Public Display of Affection and Having Sex in Bathroom

Question: After returning from a long trip can a husband greet his wife by kissing her cheeks in front of his/her parents? Can husband and wife take a bath together? Can they have sex in bathroom?

All perfect praise be to Allah, The Lord of the Worlds. I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah, and that Muhammad (Peace be upon him) is His slave and Messenger.

There is no objection if a man coming from a journey hugs or kisses his wife in front of her parents in the usual way that people do when they meet after a period of separation. But there should not be any kind of sexual pleasure in such an act that transgresses good manners and ethics.

It is lawful for the spouses to take a bath together as this is narrated from Ayisha (Raliya Allahu Anha) who said:

“I used to make ceremonial washing from Janaba along with the Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi wa Sallam). We used to take water with our hands from the same receptacle”.

As for having sex in the bathroom it is not desirable as the bathroom is a refuge for Satans and impurities. So, it is not appropriate that Muslims enjoy sex there.
